about
Universally appealing subject matter to our highly spirited generation who are confronting the truth of our times. The raw Motorcycle Musical Church, that is, David Kosin & The 7 Kings. True to the blues that has a no holds bar approach when targeting what makes the world tick.
lyrics
A product of Seattle’s rich musical lineage, David Kosin didn’t begin to delve deeply into the craft of songwriting until he had left the city 1,500 miles behind him. It was while attending college in Arizona that he felt the pull, and instead of studying for his next final exam, he returned to the Northwest and focused on the songs that would make up his debut album, “7.”
Kosin, who thrives on the collaborative nature of creating, worked with his band – dubbed the Seven Kings – to build something from nothing, or from what most would think is insubstantial. The result is a record laced with the blues and soaked in Americana bourbon that harkens back to the many perceptions of the Doors.
“I strive to invoke a feeling that twists and turns, interrupting the normal senses,” Kosin said. Indeed, “7” works to provoke the listener with a question and then provides them with enough of a platform to examine their own resolutions. The record’s leadoff, “Your Time Has Come,” began as a superstitious notion that pushed itself to the front of the young guitarist’s mind until finally being released in what he called, “the celebration of a moment.”
At its heart, “7” is the debut record from a musician completely enamored with the craft of musical creation and the talents of those who influence him. Together with the Seven Kings and producer/engineer Chris Rahm, Kosin has made that enthusiasm and those talents evident here.
